No, this was not Publishers Clearing House who contacted you.
It's important to stress that you did not hear from the real Publishers Clearing House. PCH or any legitimate sweepstakes would NEVER ask for money or personal financial information to claim a prize.
You were contacted by an impostor fraudulently using our name.
That is a scammer pretending to be the Prize Patrol -- The REAL Prize Patrol never sends friend requests, winner notifications or private messages on Facebook and you never need to pay to claim a prize. Do not accept the friend request and do not give the scammer any of your personal information! For more information on how to protect yourself, please click here.
Remember PCH never calls customers nor winners to tell them they have won.

A scam is a situation where you were contacted by someone claiming to represent Publishers Clearing House, or claiming to be a PCH employee and possibly were asked to send or wire money, send a pre-paid gift card or a Green Dot MoneyPak card , or cash a check and send a portion back to them as payment for any reason to claim a Sweepstakes prize.
